UCI DIGIFILM GUEST FILMMAKER WEEK
Join us for a Zoom conversation with director Ray Yeung. Ray will talk about his work as a director on narrative features, and his new film Twilight’s Kiss (叔．叔). After the conversation, we will have 15 minutes of Q&A. This talk is part of our Guest Filmmaker Week and is made possible with the generous support of UCI Illuminations, and produced in partnership with DigiFilm Society at UC Irvine.

Ray Yeung is an award-winning gay filmmaker based in Hong Kong. His film works explore the queer and Chinese experience, and have dealt with colonialism, masculinity, and isolation and aging in the gay community. His film Twilight’s Kiss (叔．叔) is in currently in theaters and on streaming platforms and is distributed by Strand Releasing (USA) and Epicentre Films (France). The film was nominated in five categories at the 2019 Golden Horse Awards in Taipei and voted best Hong Kong film of 2019 by the Hong Kong Film Critics Society. It has won 27 awards and screened at festivals around the globe. His second feature, Front Cover starred Jake Choi, James Chen, and the legendary Elizabeth Sung. Ray is credited with resurrecting the Hong Kong Lesbian and Gay Film Festival in 2001 and is currently the Executive Director of the HKGLFF Society.
Digital Filmmaking is a Department of Art program in the Claire Trevor School of the Arts at UC Irvine. The DigiFilm program is focused on developing diverse voices, diverse stories, and unique approaches to filmmaking.
