Join us for a Zoom conversation with cinematographer Mariscela Beatríz Méndez. Mariscela will be discussing her experiences as a cinematographer and her approaches to visual storytelling. After the conversation, we will have 15 minutes of Q&A. This talk is part of our Guest Filmmaker Week and is made possible with the generous support of UCI Illuminations, and produced in partnership with DigiFilm Society at UC Irvine.

BIO
Mariscela Beatríz Méndez was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas where her passion for visual arts brought her to Los Angeles to pursue cinematography. Since attending AFI, Mariscela has shot numerous forms of media that have aired and screened for Slamdance and Amazon Prime. She regularly shoots for Conde Nast Entertainment (Vanity Fair, Allure, Self) where she most recently shot BeBe Rexha and Lucy Hale. Mariscela has been recognized by her contemporaries, shooting for the prestigious Project Involve for Film Independent and in 2019 she was selected to participate in The American Society of Cinematographers Vision Mentor Program. Ms. Méndez was also selected as one of 18 filmmakers to participate in the Women in Film 2020 INSIGHT Fellowship Program. Mariscela wrapped principle photography on Season 2 of the web series Adulting (Amazon Prime), as well as several commercials for Google and The Clorox Company.
DIGIFILM
Digital Filmmaking is a Department of Art program in the Claire Trevor School of the Arts at UC Irvine. The DigiFilm program is focused on developing diverse voices, diverse stories, and unique approaches to filmmaking.
